Here are my photos of National and California State Parks, the outdoors, and Cruise pictures. Pages 2 and 3 have flowers, animals, ships, other trips, and all sort of other photos.
I hope you enjoy these as much as I did when I was taking them. Obviously there are some things I am better at photographing - the great outdoors, flowers, ships.... Sadly I'm not so good at taking people pictures so there aren't as many of those. If you do enjoy any particular picture, you can leave a comment.
I decided to try to put a small set (only 100 photographs) of my favorite pictures together and write about why I like these particular pictures. Sometimes it will be because of the photgraphic elements, sometimes, it is for personal meanings/reasons. It is still under construction (and always will be), but if you would like to check it out, here it is - My Favorite Photographs.

| July 21st, 2010 | I added a few pictures and updated a few bits of information on my Alcohol Stove web page. It shows how I've built the soda can stoves that I take on my backpacking trips. |

| July 14th, 2010 | While Cheryl attended a flute masterclass at Asilomar, I went exploring the Monterey Bay and Big Sur areas. I got a lot of pictures of wildlife, the ocean waves, and the beautiful California coast. I played around with the camera some more, getting some good pictures and some where I obviously have to learn how to do better. |

| July 10th, 2010 | Cheryl attended a flute masterclass at Asilomar while Ernie went exploring the Monterey Bay and Big Sur areas. She learned a lot, worked a lot, and was inspired by all the other fantastic flutists present. On the last day, the class performed a mini concert with stunningly beautiful music. | June 27th, 2010 | We had a Flute Fest - seven flautists came so they got to play music they don't often get to. Every type of flute from a bass flute to a piccolo. |
|
| June 27th, 2010 | I added the Sabrina Basin Backpacking trip we took in August 2009 to the National Parks folder so that it would be easier to find. |
|
| June 3rd, 2010 | We took a ten day cruise to Alaska aboard the Sea Princess, a medium sized ship. We hit the ports of Ketchikan, Juneau, and Skagway, and went up the Tracy Arm to see the glaciers. On a whale watching trip, we saw not only Humpbacks but also Orca (aka Killer Whales)!!! |
|
| May 18th, 2010 | A house on fire in our town which we see way more often than you'd think. As usual, the firemen got there quickly and put it out. I always feel sorry for the people living there when we see this. |

| May 9th, 2010 | Yeah! I'm finally done with the earthquake retrofitting I have been working on - this last piece was finishing building the retaining walls (with a set of steps and dirt fill-in), laying down the rest of the gravel, pounding in the grounding rod, and then the final cleanup and putting away all the tools. I added 5 pictures to the previous gallery I had. I counted 148 bricks weighing 50 lbs each in the retaining wall. I figure that's 3.7 tons moved 3 times (from the store to the truck, from the truck to the work area storage, from the work area storage to being put in place). Plus about 3/4 ton of concrete, and about 1 ton of dirt, and probably 1/2 ton of gravel. No wonder I've had an aching body for months! It feels so good to finally have this done though! |

| May 1st, 2010 | This Mourning Dove decided to build her nest in a stoplight on a busy street I drive a lot! It's actually a pretty good location, much better than Mourning Doves usually pick. |
|
| April 25th, 2010 | We went for a little drive to the top of Mt Diablo State Park so I took the new camera along and tried out a few nature pictures. There were some nice wildflowers out. |
|
| April 25th, 2010 | A pair of Black Phoebe birds decided to build a nest and raise a family under our garage eves. We see the parents flitting about all the time and hanging around the pool to catch insects. |
|
| April 19th, 2010 | A friend of ours has his 50th birthday - WhooHoo!!! While the Birthday Boy was hard to catch on camera since he was moving around talking to all his friends, I did manage to capture a few shots... |

| April 18th, 2010 | I went to Las Vegas to see a Cher concert. It was a great concert, but I only have pictures of some of her outfits from the displays outside the theatre. I did a bunch of other sightseeing however and have pictures from that... Las Vegas being, well, Las Vegas, some of these pictures are Not Quite So Safe For Work or, maybe not so great for the kids to see. But they are no worse that anything you'd see at a public swimming beach. |

| April 18th, 2010 | Since I was going to Las Vegas, I decided to stop at Death Valley National Park for a few days beforehand. It was windy which made camping difficult, but the wildflowers were out in bloom. I was trying out my new Canon Rebel T1i camera and had a good time learning more about how to get some good pictures with it. It was amazing to me to see actual rain in Death Valley and even a rainbow!!! |
